"Tachanun" by the Israeli composer Yitzhak Yedid, for piano, double-bass and percussion, is a six-part suite played consecutively. Aside the composed parts, the musicians improvise in different ways and styles. Oriental musical sources, jazz and classical styles, join into a personal utterance and express feeling, growing out of the Jewish-Israeli world.
The title "Tachanun" was given to this musical work because of its being an appeal and a prayer for better times.
